Avril Lavigne Files for Divorce Wed, 14-Oct-2009
Trying to protect the assets she's accumulated, Avril Lavigne has filed for divorce from ex-husband Deryck Whibley.
Citing "irreconcilable differences" in recent court filings, the 25-year-old "Complicated" singer doesn't expect spousal support - but asks to be freed from obligations to pay out money to Whibley.
News of the couple's breakup first surfaced in mid September, which came about after three years and one month of marriage.
With insiders claiming that Deryck had difficulty dealing with the decision, a source told Us magazine, "She dumped him and told him she was leaving him. She wants to move on." |
