Beyonce and Lady GaGa Top 2009 VMA Nominees List Tue, 4-Aug-2009
Leading the competition with nine nominations each, Beyonce Knowles and Lady GaGa are on top of the pack when it comes to the 2009 MTV VMAs.
Competing head to head in the video of the year and best female video categories, Beyonce told press: "I'm excited and honored to be tied for most nominated for the VMAs."
The "Irreplaceable" singer adds, "I've been blessed this year to have 'Single Ladies' become a video people really connected with and responded to. I've spent so much time watching all the great versions people created all around the world. It's beautiful to feel you touch people and bring a song to life with a video."
Among the other leading nominee recipients are Britney Spears, who scored seven bids, as well as Kanye West and Eminem, who both locked up four nominations.
To be hosted by Russell Brand for the second year in a row, the VMAs are scheduled to take place on September 13 in New York City. |
