Beyonce's Take on the Kanye West Incident Tue, 6-Oct-2009 Three weeks after the incident took place, Beyonce Knowles is opening up about the 2009 MTV VMA moment that shocked the country in which Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech.
The hip-hop star had jumped onstage during Miss Swift's "Thank You" moment after she took the winner for Best Female Video, taking the microphone out of her hand and saying to Taylor and the audience, "Yo Taylor. I'm really happy for you and I'ma let you finish, but Beyonce has one of the best videos of all time!"
West has apologized since then directly to Swift and publicly.
More recently, Beyonce spoke to Gayle King at the Billboard Women In Music event, saying, "Well, I knew his intentions, and I knew he was standing up for art; and he told me before, when they said the nominees, he's like, ‘You have this award.'"
"And when they didn't call my name he was, like, completely shocked. And when he walked on the stage, I was like, ‘No, no, no!' and then he spoke, and I was like, ‘Oh, no, no, no!'"
"But in the end, it ended up being a great night, and Taylor Swift did get her moment — and I didn't have to make an acceptance speech." |
