Brad Pitt Trash Talks Tom Cruise's “Valkyrie” Fri, 21-Aug-2009
His highly-anticipated new film "Inglourious Basterds" hits theaters today, and Brad Pitt has a pretty high opining of the WWII flick.
When asked about another WWII movie "Valkyrie" during a recent interview, the "Fight Club" sneered, "It was a ridiculous movie."
He went on to say that "Basterds" could be the end-all of WWII movies. "The second World War could still deliver more stories and films, but I believe that Quentin put a cover on that pot. With Basterds, everything than can be said to this genre has been said. The film destroys every symbol. The work is done, end of story."
Pitt also shared his own inspiration when it came to breaking out of his small town upbringing. "When I was a teenager, I saw Saturday Night Fever at our drive-in, but it wasn't the dancing that electrified me. It was the life and culture in Brooklyn. I'm from Missouri, the southern part of the Midwest in the U.S., and I never heard families talk that way to each other. From that point on, I wanted out to see more of the country and of life." |
