Banana Republic Spring Collection Revealed Mon, 27-Oct-2008 Gentle and delicate was brought to Banana Republic's 2009 Spring collection on Tuesday. It was what director Simon Kneen wanted.
"I think you need something positive and colorful when things are tough outside," told Kneen after the show. "The last thing we need is to add to the doom and gloom."
While many of other designers we have seen have kept their Spring collections at simplicity and less daring, Kneen wanted to venture out into multiple colors and styles. He included neutral monochromatic color palettes of slate, khaki, and white along with vibrant colors such as ocean blue and grassy green that added fun and playfulness.
And although Banana Republic has a sportswear background as well, Kneen created new looks to add and made additional revisions such as updating coats, dresses, and cardigans. The softest fabrics were used such as soy fiber that made trousers slouch and appear carefree.
And of course men were not excluded in the upcoming new trends. The cardigan look was strong and masculine with a casual look that was matched up with suits. Leather jackets also made an appearance that was perfect for the weather. Even brightly colored pants added that something new we were all ready to see in the fashion world. |
